Re: Solar Observatory - Observatory radio research equipment being used by the Chinese Communists to spy on next door WSMR, White Sands Missile Range, IMHO. I used to live in the area and am familiar with the lay of the land. Part of the Solar Observatory research equipment was part of correlated investigations of ionospheric interactions of radio communications and sun spots and such. The Observatory is located on a mountain peak overlooking WSMR, where all kinds of weapons and ordinance testing and dog & pony show demonstrations are often held there for US weapons customers. My first thought, besides all the weapons laser research that also goes on at nearby Holloman Air base by the 704th Test Group. That kind of wideband radio research equipment there could have been easily perverted for hostile intelligence interception purposes. Probably every bit as good as anything the NSA / NRO folks have on hand.
