I use to work a lot on AI, it would either just obey what the coder has told it to do, or it would self learn and push towards a "The matrix" scenario, imo

The AI we currently have can't really evolve past the current things we want it to analyze. But if it could start to add into that network path and change what the teacher AI measures, then we got a problem.

The problem is that if the AI goals are controlled by democracy, then the AI government would be finding the best way to expand welfare and immigration and not fix the problems.
