its NOT a webpage
its legit just a name
I know it's not a web page.
i could have named it "shakdpdnabdn" if i wanted
irc cannot be connected through the web, so a subdomain does nothing
You can still have DNS resolve to the correct IP address.
it cant direct to my IRC
it is the correct IP
your issue is trying to connect to it through the web
No it's not.
I'm using an irc client.
then whats the issue? 7 people have connected already
the address is fine
I'm connected already.
ok
so whats the issue
But you can't connect through the domain name because you haven't set up the subdomain.
You have to connect by IP directly.
no, you cant connect from the domain name because its NOT a domain name, for the last time
Yes it is!
im using inspircd @auxchar i have gone through the files, i have setup this server, i can assure you its not a domain
no you're not. Stop lying, fag.
its just a name, it listed in the files as literally a name, theres a comment that says the name does nothing
all you really need to know is the address and port
True, however, what you can do is have the name resolve to the address, and then all you need is the name.
that isn't something i can do on my end, thats on a per client basis
Yes it is
not all irc clients use the name and addresses in the same way
In DNS configuration.
I'm not aware of any IRC client that will not use DNS resolution.
in the files, there is not configuration for that, i spent 22 straight hours setting this server up, i know what i can and cant do with it
uh, ok...
Right, it's not in the IRC server, it's in the DNS configuration.
which isnt something i can do
Yes it is, you control DNS.
if your talking about in my router settings, no, no i cant, theres no DNS settings in my router
your not the first to bring this up Aux
Ok, you already have alina.net set to resolve to 144.217.252.90, right?
You should be able to set irc.alina.net to resolve to 45.46.75.226.
no, because i cant, for the last time, its not something i can do
