@Jeremy are you aware of Telstra?

2020-02-16 12:31:34 UTC

and NBNco

2020-02-16 12:31:45 UTC

Thats the big issue, most Aussies don't pay attention.

2020-02-16 12:31:53 UTC

Phasing out coal for Nuclear, cutting down on pollution by phasing out plastics and such as well as drastically reducing our population to be more in balance with nature is about as good as Australia can do

2020-02-16 12:32:12 UTC

I can't say I'm familiar with them, no, @Greasy.

2020-02-16 12:32:22 UTC

Telstra is utter trash

2020-02-16 12:32:30 UTC

Did your government fuck you over with a cartel?

2020-02-16 12:33:07 UTC

@Ethreen42, mmm, genocide!

2020-02-16 12:33:15 UTC

That's a campaign winner right there!

2020-02-16 12:33:30 UTC

<:pot_of_kek:544849795433496586>

2020-02-16 12:33:32 UTC

not genocide, deportation

2020-02-16 12:34:01 UTC

How else does one drastically reduce their population?

2020-02-16 12:34:06 UTC

Australia's population is about 25 Million, around 6-8 Million of those people should never of been here in the first place

2020-02-16 12:34:09 UTC

We got a politician using a picture of a guillotine as her campaign symbol for senate in Maine.

2020-02-16 12:34:25 UTC

again, through deportation @Jeremy

2020-02-16 12:34:26 UTC

Lovely.

2020-02-16 12:34:39 UTC

Again, your aging population, @Ethreen42.

2020-02-16 12:34:45 UTC

@Jeremy telecom company nationwide, was privatised but the entire physical network went to the one supplier - so we got fucked with a telecom monopoly. When the gov mandated broadband installation, they had to give the contract to Telstra (who massively overran cost of course) and so we've had Telstra just fucking everyone for my entire life. Internet and phone is about $80-120 per month, on copper wires to a node however far away

2020-02-16 12:35:09 UTC

I'm not going to support importing millions of people just to prevent our country from aging @Jeremy

2020-02-16 12:35:39 UTC

you can use various other means to slowly increase out fertility rate

2020-02-16 12:35:42 UTC

our*

2020-02-16 12:35:56 UTC

we could reach a fertility rate of 2.1 in 20 years if we tried

2020-02-16 12:36:04 UTC

private competition has seen two other companies reach some similar coverage in about half the country, after 20 years of waiting. telecom industry relies on Telstra networks so the industry is effectively price-floored

2020-02-16 12:36:05 UTC

which would be enough for a stable popualtion

2020-02-16 12:36:39 UTC

The greatest scam in the history of nations is GDP

2020-02-16 12:37:13 UTC

it means nothing. Literally has no intelligent meaning. Wage in real terms is the only measure of economic success I will accept

2020-02-16 12:37:28 UTC

pretty much

2020-02-16 12:37:49 UTC

fuck nbn is pure garbage

2020-02-16 12:37:55 UTC

and for those purposes, population decline is no problem. If there's a population age bubble, let it burst. We'll reach a stable replacement rate when we heal our culture.

2020-02-16 12:37:56 UTC

I'll never understand conservatives who obese over GDP, there are far more important things to worry about

2020-02-16 12:38:16 UTC

obsess*

2020-02-16 12:39:11 UTC

they aren't conservative, they're free-marketeer and mostly libertarian, not conservative. If they're advocating immigration as a solution, they're anti-national

2020-02-16 12:39:26 UTC

I mostly saw Conservatives talking about the debt more than anything else.

2020-02-16 12:39:30 UTC

And high taxes.

2020-02-16 12:40:02 UTC

Like Corey Bernardi.

2020-02-16 12:40:12 UTC

fuck Bernardi

2020-02-16 12:40:46 UTC

the Australians Conservatives were such a fucking terrible party, they were basically just the UK torries, or a cheap copy of the Liberals

2020-02-16 12:41:09 UTC

bernardi is at least socially conservative on some issues. far from a saviour though

2020-02-16 12:41:34 UTC

^

2020-02-16 12:42:10 UTC

see, if they're career politicians, then they know that the majority of voters vote with their wallets

2020-02-16 12:42:28 UTC

so of course he's talking the lines which people have been conditioned to believe
