When Brailsford held up the suspect at gunpoint, he was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. For what reason did Brailsford have to suspect he was hiding a rifle on his person? Where would he have hidden it? In his ass?

So they were responding to a situation where someone was potentially armed, an assumption they had to make, regardless of whether or not it was in the end an air gun.

@Jeremy Look, the guy wasn't even brandishing or carrying a weapon by the time Brailsford held him up. He was sobbing, on his knees begging for his life.

Braislford executed him on the spot because he was trying to pull his pants up from a prone position since they were sliding down due to BRailsford ordering him to crawl on his stomach... With his legs crossed... ANd all manner of other crazy gymnastics feats that Brailsford ordered him to do in a manner that was self-contradicting and conflicting.

No, they didn't, but the officer said he would, @Camera Obscura, if he did not follow through with issued commands.

Brailsford was not just some "Innocent cop doing his best". He was a small man getting intoxicated by the power over life and death he held at that point and took every failure of compliance as a personal insult, and that's why he killed a man.
