@Jeremy Works for bullying inferior third world countries that have no chance of fighting back anyway.

Not so effective against a first world country with subs.

2020-02-20 18:41:06 UTC

Tbh they were pretty much asking for it, the Ruskies just vetoed a UN Security Council Resolution calling for a ceasefire in Syria

2020-02-20 18:41:13 UTC

I have to agree with Russia on this one TBH.

2020-02-20 18:41:16 UTC

So like

2020-02-20 18:41:23 UTC

They brought this on themselves

2020-02-20 18:41:42 UTC

wait what did they bring on themselves ?

2020-02-20 18:41:56 UTC

The eventual Turkish offensive against Assad

2020-02-20 18:42:05 UTC

@Jeremy Heck you don't even need subs.

A couple of cheap Exocet anti-ship missiles will send a Nimitz to Davy Jones' locker in short order.

2020-02-20 18:42:15 UTC

Erdogan is not backing down

2020-02-20 18:42:29 UTC

As much as I don't care for the EU.. Erdogan's floodgate rhetoric leaves a bad taste in my mouth..

2020-02-20 18:42:34 UTC

so thats how it begins

2020-02-20 18:42:35 UTC

......

2020-02-20 18:42:46 UTC

> Russia
> themselves
> """"eventual Turkish offensive against Assad"""""

2020-02-20 18:42:46 UTC

Either Assad backs down or the Turks begin their offensive, and it doesn't look like Assad's backing down either

2020-02-20 18:42:55 UTC

eventual too

2020-02-20 18:43:07 UTC

man you'd tell me the lottery numbers

2020-02-20 18:43:09 UTC

@Andrew Popa 2.0 The UN Security council can eat a bag of dicks.

Russia was invited into Syria, so their actions in Syria are completely legitimate.

2020-02-20 18:43:11 UTC

instead of cassandring

2020-02-20 18:43:15 UTC

I don't even care about Assad.

2020-02-20 18:43:34 UTC

The Turks have zero legitimacy to enter Syria, besides Erdogans usual lust for conquest and domination.

2020-02-20 18:43:43 UTC

Turkey had purge of it's generals two years ago right?

2020-02-20 18:43:53 UTC

Erdogan has given the Syrian Army until the end of February to withdraw back to the original lines before the Government offensive

2020-02-20 18:44:14 UTC

Just 2 days ago he called a Turkish Armed intervention a "matter of time"

2020-02-20 18:44:17 UTC

Why should the Syrian Army withdraw from their own territories?

2020-02-20 18:44:40 UTC

erdogan needs war to hold power

2020-02-20 18:44:47 UTC

just like russia needs war for same reason

2020-02-20 18:44:56 UTC

Because in September 2018 Russia, Turkey and Iran agreed to turn the Greater Idlib Area into a de-escalation zone

2020-02-20 18:45:02 UTC

they will keep high tension

2020-02-20 18:45:27 UTC

Russia's the better of two evils in the matter, as far as I'm concerned.

2020-02-20 18:45:30 UTC

Meaning that both the Rebels and the Government would withdraw they forces from the region

2020-02-20 18:45:54 UTC

However, since then, the Syrian Government has launched 2 offensives against the rebels

2020-02-20 18:47:12 UTC

The Turks and the Americans have blamed Assad, Russia and Iran for launching the offensives and not abiding by the ceasefire while the Russians have blamed the rebels for not abiding by the ceasefire and Turkey for supporting rebel groups

2020-02-20 18:47:31 UTC

In short: it's a fucking shit show

2020-02-20 18:48:01 UTC

@Tato Russia doesn't need war to hold power.

Putin's approval ratings are through the fucking roof.

2020-02-20 18:48:19 UTC

because of wars

2020-02-20 18:48:19 UTC

Another thing, the most recent Government offensive against the rebels has displaced nearly 1 million civilians, a lot of which have fled to the border with Turkey

2020-02-20 18:48:22 UTC

werent' they like 50/50 recently?
duno

2020-02-20 18:48:37 UTC

The last thing Turkey wants is another refugee crisis

2020-02-20 18:48:54 UTC

@Andrew Popa 2.0 Last time I checked, Idlib is in Syria. Therefore it falls under Assad's jurisdiction. He has every right to smoke out those rebel scum.

2020-02-20 18:49:08 UTC

And so here we are today
