if you shut down the majority of the manufacturers making gun parts, that's basically it

it takes a lot of knowledge, skill, and money to do that sort of thing and the average person will not be able to do it themselves

but a home appliance that can make virtually any object can't be banned, functionally

3d printers are just a cnc hot glue gun

at least fdm ones

Yeah all you really need is a polymer chassis to mount the metal hardware store parts inside

All you really need is a chamber, barrel, recoil spring and bolt

which are mass manufactured for super cheap

and needed for every industry

the programming is probably the most complicated

otherwise it's just 6 directions

directional commands + some on/off stuff more or less

but converting data into a path is pretty hard

if you had to start from scratch there, it'd take a while

nozzles are really important but that's mostly refinement

afaik cnc programming took a few strokes of genius to become efficient
