2018-08-21 12:22:58 UTC

haha

2018-08-21 12:23:02 UTC

you won't "git" gud

2018-08-21 12:23:15 UTC

haha

2018-08-21 12:23:19 UTC

unintentional 😛

2018-08-21 12:23:35 UTC

dis gitta be eating baked commits

2018-08-21 12:23:41 UTC

VM is Virtual Machine right?

2018-08-21 12:23:44 UTC

yes

2018-08-21 12:23:44 UTC

yep

2018-08-21 12:23:49 UTC

Cool

2018-08-21 12:23:56 UTC

assuming you run windows currently

2018-08-21 12:24:02 UTC

gentoo lads unite

2018-08-21 12:24:05 UTC

just use Ubuntu

2018-08-21 12:24:10 UTC

sad

2018-08-21 12:24:12 UTC

it is the most beginner friendly linux

2018-08-21 12:24:57 UTC

Yep Windows 10 unfortunately

2018-08-21 12:24:57 UTC

i actually currently only use linux for my servers, I've found the newer versions of W10 much more helpful to work with as a daily driver as soon as you uninstall the 6000 different versions of Candy Crush Saga

2018-08-21 12:26:09 UTC

i have Windows 10 Enterprise, so

2018-08-21 12:26:11 UTC

win10 is good man, but i find a lot of tutorials, projects and stuff will assume you are using a *nix machine

2018-08-21 12:26:17 UTC

oh yeah

2018-08-21 12:26:41 UTC

What sort of benefits does linux offer over other operating systems?

2018-08-21 12:26:48 UTC

i interned at MSR and got used to visual studio, its actually fucking great

2018-08-21 12:27:20 UTC

and for all those tutorials or whatever I'd do them on my servers, because all the stuff I do with tutorials and whatnot happen to be server-related (because linux server market share is like, insane) so y'know

2018-08-21 12:27:28 UTC

as long as my servers run linux I'm fine

2018-08-21 12:27:40 UTC

well linux is free for one

2018-08-21 12:27:41 UTC

lol

2018-08-21 12:27:44 UTC

my only problem with visual studio is the 69 GB download

2018-08-21 12:27:54 UTC

That's a benefit

2018-08-21 12:28:07 UTC

But I mean in terms of utility

2018-08-21 12:28:10 UTC

linux being free is only a benefit if you haven't already bought windows

2018-08-21 12:28:26 UTC

linux is.. sometimes.. faster

2018-08-21 12:28:34 UTC

but only for encryption

2018-08-21 12:28:35 UTC

linux can be much more lightweight in terms of CPU usage, basically every open source project runs on it

2018-08-21 12:28:51 UTC

the linux kernel is marginally better than NT at encryption

2018-08-21 12:28:59 UTC

because kernel encryption layer and some shit

2018-08-21 12:28:59 UTC

NT?

2018-08-21 12:28:59 UTC

out of the box it's a more hospitable programming environment

2018-08-21 12:29:06 UTC

NT is windows' kernel

2018-08-21 12:29:11 UTC

aka Windows NT

2018-08-21 12:29:17 UTC

Got it 😃

2018-08-21 12:29:36 UTC

The Kernel is where all the important admin shit is right?
