I mean take any car with that tho.

2018-07-10 19:32:07 UTC

the thing is, a lot of the modern performance cars are going to be less comfortable than tuned cars

2018-07-10 19:32:16 UTC

because supercars make compromises as well

2018-07-10 19:32:28 UTC

Try preserving the responsiveness, comfort, etc, while also subtracting 3 secinds from the 0 to 60 time

2018-07-10 19:32:55 UTC

Like even if you compromise some, which factory sports cars do, it just aint happening

2018-07-10 19:33:02 UTC

my ludicrously wealthy friend has a huracan, it's a great car to look at but the driving position is not perfect, the seats imo are uncomfortable and the interior feels cheap - not because it is but because it's been made for lightness

2018-07-10 19:33:47 UTC

it's impossible for the majority of people to tell the difference between plastic made to be cheap and plastic made to be light

2018-07-10 19:33:55 UTC

because they feel nearly identical when you knock them

2018-07-10 19:34:53 UTC

there are almost no cars out there that make no compromises at all

2018-07-10 19:35:33 UTC

the chiron and veyron are obviously in that category, I'd argue that most of the luxury sedans are also there if you discount weight as being a compromise

2018-07-10 19:36:38 UTC

funnily enough, I think some of the most exciting cars being made today are American cars

2018-07-10 19:36:58 UTC

they're powerful, well priced, comfortable but not too bogged down with technology

2018-07-10 19:37:04 UTC

and they come with glorious slower manuals

2018-07-10 19:38:14 UTC

the expensive powerful cars still with manual options from Europe are limited to what, the jag ftype and porsche? I think even aston have pulled their manual options but I could be wrong

2018-07-10 19:38:36 UTC

Japan don't seem to have anything manual either

2018-07-10 19:39:16 UTC

all this talk of cars reminded me

2018-07-10 19:39:22 UTC

I need to check a wheel bearing brb

2018-07-10 19:40:14 UTC

I think i lost my original point in there somewhere

2018-07-10 19:40:18 UTC

Oh well

2018-07-10 19:40:36 UTC

The automotive industry will go where it goes

2018-07-10 19:41:00 UTC

I'll just sit here trying to figure out why my car decided to cut boost

2018-07-10 19:44:12 UTC

could there be a leak?

2018-07-10 19:44:52 UTC

also the automotive industry is kinda fucked in the long run; the rise of electric and driverless cars is gonna render a lot of existing selling points redundant

2018-07-10 19:46:10 UTC

driverless cars will make performance irrelevant, electric cars will mean once a vehicle has a range of probably 1000 miles and a sufficiently rapid charging capacity, anything else is irrelevant so cars are gonna sell on comfort/ride and pretty much every manufacturer can match one another on that

2018-07-10 19:47:00 UTC

also I have this horrible theory that the future will be the elimination of private vehicle ownership and basically everyone will just take ubers

2018-07-10 19:47:46 UTC

I think series hybrids will be around for quite a while still, especially in commercial vehicles

2018-07-10 19:48:00 UTC

probably, but it's developing rapidly

2018-07-10 19:48:11 UTC

Eh

2018-07-10 19:48:13 UTC

I'm hoping hydrogen wins out over battery storage

2018-07-10 19:48:20 UTC

Evs are on life support

2018-07-10 19:48:40 UTC

Fisker is dead basically. Tesla is losing $1.5 billion a year and rising

2018-07-10 19:48:47 UTC

no dude, tesla is on life support, other companies are doing it a lot better

2018-07-10 19:48:50 UTC

Sure, you might be able to make a Tesla go 1000 miles within the decade, but good luck getting a dump truck to go more than 50 miles on the same battery tech

2018-07-10 19:48:52 UTC

look at jaguar and hyundai

2018-07-10 19:48:58 UTC

And the established mfgs are making compliance cars

2018-07-10 19:49:10 UTC

Tgey make them because the law requires it

2018-07-10 19:49:49 UTC

volvo are totally withdrawing pure ICE cars and going hybrid/electric only

2018-07-10 19:49:58 UTC

Like, here in my state you can only buy two EVs, Tesla and the mitsubishi shitbox one with the stupid name

2018-07-10 19:50:06 UTC

toyota are pouring money into the mirai

2018-07-10 19:50:07 UTC

Nissan Leaf

2018-07-10 19:50:11 UTC

The rest are only offered where it is required
