Because I don't know about you, but when most people get shot they're not fighting any more.
there was some talk during the initial years of iraq war (desert shield?) that 5.56 couldn't go through the cinder blocks the enemy was using for cover and with a straight up hit would go through too fast because they are thin men on opiates
It's just a general misconception of how firefights even work.
>5.56 doesn't go through cinder blocks
And a 6.8 caliber would?
nigga what
just because the entry hole is small doesn't mean it's not fucking their shit up
I mean, he's not wrong, it does take quite a few shots to go through a cinder block. But that's just going to be the case for any intermediate calibre, not just 5.56.
the 5.56 ball they were initially using wouldn't pass through a windshield without losing it's trajectory
Literally all bullets lose trajectory going through a medium.
that is true too
i believe that it was the discussion to switch for a bigger intermediate
why not just use 7.62 at that point?
greentips and blacktips fixed the issue some what
Why not just use .50 bmg?
^
fuck yo cover
M2 HB with a belt full of SLAP
give them 20 round battle rifles chambered in .50 cal
Why are we going back to what we were going away from the first place, and that's overburdening our troops with a rifle that's far heavier, and harder to shooter, with less ammo?
So if the squad is now using .50cal battle rifles, what's the guy with the SAW going to use?
20 mm autocannon?
There you go.
well saw is mainly for cover anyway
fuck it, give him HE shells
it's not like he needs to pen cover or anything
raufoss is heiap
the problem with it was that it's a war crime for most countries to use on people (not us though) and it would pass through before exploding leaving a combatant without all the limbs and too much life left in them.
using high explosive shells is a war crime?
I thought that was expanding bullets (hollow points)
they expand quite a lot when the explosion occurs
but it's only against soft ie. human targets
but the us didn't sign that agreement, while it's ok for us snipers to use raufoss ammo it's probably frowned upon. then again if there's a free target and you're ready to fire you will use anything you have available
we also use white phosphorus <:pepe_smug:378719408341909506>
willie pete, it's mainly in 40 mm i think
for small arms anyway
81 mm morter
shake n bake baby
Napalm Sticks to kids
