I haven't been taught a lick of ideology, just rules and ethics.
And I couldn't place any of my profs on a political spectrum if I tried.
rules and ethics, in journalism smh
I'm serious man
the three or four permanent profs all have 15+ years at the CBC, before the media went sideways
fake news 😛
really tho what college is this?
@King Canuck Yeah, my English teacher was clueless about the SPLC's doings recently. I had to fill her in, and she was stunned
oof.
St.Clair, in canada.
We've got what's called a Media Convergence program
the idea is, in the modern media you can't *just* be a writer or *just* be a cameraman
you have to know how to be a one-man newsroom
and that's what I'm learning
I've taken best to audio and radio writing and producing
so is it like tim pool type internet journalism?
not quite
we still have a paper for our program
but we're taught the skills to generate it all without help
thats intersting
I've got our final radio show of the year right here
we livestream it to youtube
I'm in the producer's booth for this
I pre-record a "weird news" segment (basically florida man and r/nottheonion) that's at 22:53
https://youtu.be/FSc5JKSB3SA?t=1373 timestamped if you're lazy
and my weird news music is something I composed myself
i will check it out looks well produced
alex jones the prophet himself lmao
Yah
My segment is made to sound much lighter than the rest of the cast, with sound effects and silly music and jokes
is there a particular core topic you guys cover or just whatever you feel like
Local news
http://themediaplex.com/loot-boxes-gambling/ I wrote this during the EA shenanigan
if the writing feels a little stilted it's cause the editors are rigorous as hell
yeah ea and their dlc grinds my gears
by the time we're done with edits and rewrites any personal voice in our writing is more or less squished to make room for being objective and neutral
why isnt the font comic sans? triggered
heck u
Loot boxes are annoying, but, I don't understand why a law needs to be passed about it. (what I last heard)
