Met a lot of fucked up kids
and that is better than the state ideology how?
Because the state ideology is half assed and you can see through it
Most homeschooling I know of is due to religious extremism.
How about decentralized public schools, and the teachers and curriculum need to be approved by the local community?
Well
yeah, but that will never happen
which was kinda my point
I kind of went to that
It was a charter school
the left can't stand that, it's really funny in a way
Again I am skeptical of decentralization. My city and locale is just as nuts, if not moreso, than the centralized system.
Which brings me to my point of, I dont see the US lasting another generation
nah decentralization is the way to go
Also charter schools are damaging funding for public schools. Which is a problem if you can't afford a charter school.
@EnderOctanuslol wut?
i'm not very optimistic either, but you never know what will happen @Fitzydog
They usually operate at a lower cost than the public schools
I come from a long line of soldiers and teachers. Fairly well versed on the subject.
How low the operating cost is doesn't matter if you don't go there.
It's not free, yet the government mandates that all children must attend school.
They're usually under their budget, unlike the other ones
Which frankly is BS
"No child left behind" is a disaster.
public schools are bad in general
we learned the same thing in every grade
Well yeah but if the government would let them run at the state level it would be so much better. Get those dumb ass policies out.
If a kid won't learn, kick them out.
if you say stuff like that, people will act as though you shot their grandma
leftists are really emotional about any sort of change in that direction
The charter schools here, are an offshoot of a single district, and they're funded with the per-student amount that their home district would have gotten, but it's diverted to the charter school
Too bad.
And yes, that's how it works everywhere
That seems much better, I don't see the problem
Issue is when poor neighborhoods have the state put many of their students in charter schools, taking the funding with them.
Suddenly you can hardly afford textbooks let alone pay the teachers fairly
how much good would it do if we just got rid of teachers unions?
Bad idea.
That sounds like a budgeting problem, not a charter school problem
Fuck teachers unions
