No, I take that back

2019-12-05 06:45:41 UTC

look up the wiki for Skeksis

degeneracy is the most fucking beautiful thing in quantum mechanics

Trannies pedo furries are made of 100% degenerate matter

2019-12-05 06:46:21 UTC

At lowest total energy (when the thermal energy of the particles is negligible), all the lowest energy quantum states are filled. This state is referred to as *full degeneracy*.

2019-12-05 06:46:31 UTC

I've never even heard of degenerate matter

2019-12-05 06:46:34 UTC

damn that's cold

@fuguer what do you know about the observer effect and what are your thoughts on many worlds

2019-12-05 06:48:33 UTC

observer effect isnt anything mystical due to consciousness, it's just the fact that when you an observer measure a quantum system you become entangled with that system.

2019-12-05 06:48:40 UTC

measurement = entanglement

2019-12-05 06:48:49 UTC

I like that

2019-12-05 06:49:35 UTC

i think many worlds is the most rational interpretation of quantum mechanics, especially when you consider observable experiments like the double slit, and delayed choice eraser

2019-12-05 06:49:58 UTC

the idea that probing nature creates an effect in itself is very unsettling

2019-12-05 06:50:04 UTC

if you spend some time trying to understand the double slit experiment, you either have to accept retrocausality + non-locality or many worlds.

2019-12-05 06:50:55 UTC

actually theres a theorem in that called the quantum no cloning theorem, it means its IMPOSSIBLE to ever copy the state of a quantum system

2019-12-05 06:51:04 UTC

because in order to observe its state you change it

2019-12-05 06:51:59 UTC

i mean its not that surprising. to see something you need light to bounce off it and enter your eyes.. so the only way to observe something is to interact with it

2019-12-05 06:52:12 UTC

yeah that does make sense

2019-12-05 06:52:40 UTC

and at the quantum level these interactions are HIGHLY significant because observing it means you may have very precise information about its position/momentum/energy/etc which constrains future observations

2019-12-05 06:52:49 UTC

I think many worlds is completely awesome if that's the state of being

2019-12-05 06:53:42 UTC

we already know superposition states exist, thats the source of interference patterns..... and we can create these interference patterns with anything, photons, helium nuclei, etc.

2019-12-05 06:53:54 UTC

particles don't like being pinned down unless you force them to

2019-12-05 06:54:08 UTC

and they literally have different experiences, going right and left

2019-12-05 06:54:20 UTC

until we definitely measure it, then we constrain the consistent histories

2019-12-05 06:54:33 UTC

and we cant ever observe something inconsistent with a prior measurement

2019-12-05 06:54:36 UTC

which means atoms and molecules behave the same way right?

2019-12-05 06:54:41 UTC

yes

2019-12-05 06:55:45 UTC

it's very interesting trying to reconcile quantum mechanics with the macro scale, you can reasonable believe in many worlds when you consider it that way

2019-12-05 06:56:39 UTC

read up on decoherence

2019-12-05 06:56:42 UTC

which means there's a version of me with $1B in the bank and a private jet, what a fucking legend that version of me is

2019-12-05 06:57:30 UTC

basically classical reality emerges from quantum mechanics because the information is copied and spread out into the environment (large quantum system)

2019-12-05 06:57:33 UTC

It is wrapped up in consciousness

2019-12-05 06:57:40 UTC

The observer effect

2019-12-05 06:57:47 UTC

i dont think so

2019-12-05 06:57:49 UTC

Only conscious beings observe

2019-12-05 06:57:56 UTC

no, its just entanglement

2019-12-05 06:58:02 UTC

through entanglement?
