When I worked at a residential commercial firm

We used natural elements to circulate air

the smoke go to the room at the roof

So convection

A cone does not have convection currents

for the value of that fat bronze piping you might get more copper tubing for a water based heating system

i reckon too much smoke (more than zero) is going to end up in your lungs

There are issues with thick copper pipes hydraulically

copper is expensive, you don't need the duct to be very heat-conductive
