i dont know about germans actually domesticating giraffes, but i do know they started domesticating zebras and had success with that. So it always bothers me when people (youtubers) say its due to the inherent properties of zebras that they were not domesticated by africans, rather than african incompetence

The ppl who say you can't domesticate zebras make it seem like wild horses were tame to begin with
largely, where there is a will, there is a way
and from the descriptions ive heard it wasnt even particularly difficult with zebras
but if you want to domesticate something you can do it, whatever it is
your knowledge of the species will increase over time and active and natural selection will do the rest
As long as you can capture them you can break horses and zebras
And that's really the only requirement to start selective breeding
It's actually speculated that back in the day the wild horses ahd stripes like Zebras
Another example would be how wild aurox were and what they've become in the form of cows etc.
