Nowadays I'm on a standard 8-4.
Anyone asks me to work longer than that, I'm like "Lol, jog On."
I mean, I understand if the total time is the sum of several things like studies, work, homework etc
well, I imagine you can work 14 hour shifts.
Whether or not you're officially contracted for them is another question.
And a lot of companies have a waiver when you sign your contract that says they can ask you to work long hours in times of need.
eugenics are sinful
yes
@Mozalbete ⳩ it is, if it's on the pipeline or if a company is way behind
Aviation is known for this
I work in an aviation warehouse
It's either work 12+ hrs or 7 days a week for standard 8
It's why I want to get out soon
I hope there are at least good prospects
And that the salary is good
hmm
im writing a story that involves humanity returning to god
what should i call it
@Mozalbete ⳩ not in my position except management
I can apply for other areas but it'll take forever
@Mozalbete ⳩ Do you live in the US?
Nope
Ah, yes, that explains why 12 hour days are insane to you...
The whole Protestant work ethic thing got universally imported into our culture
Euros wonder why US doctors get paid so much
Because the living cost is also insane
They have this nifty thing called residency where you work 80 hours/week for 3-7 years
Work ethic is to be able to work a normal amount of time
2 weeks vacation
Then you finish it and work 60 hour weeks
Doctors also have to work for huge amounts of time here
And residents make ~80000/year
Gotta pay dem burgers
b o r g a r hour
Yee, but US residency is much more intense
Euro countries have regulations on working hours and conditions for residency
Residents used to work 90+ hours
But that got knocked down recently to 80 like ten years back
If you did plastic surgery residency, they had this shift of training for a few months called Trauma where you could work 36 hours straight and 120 hours in a week
They decided that was bad cause "muh doctor is tired."
