22k tho
I'm watching comfy's video on thrifting speakers and I'm kind of tempted to go out and find good speakers
passives
and buy an amp
No but if you want that more money actually means more good up to around the million dollar Mark
Damn, spending that much on audio shit seems like insanity to me
Also for dac pcm2904 is my new fave
Can you actually tell the difference past a certain point
with diminishing returns and all that
certain point of what
With loudspeakers yeah
price
what component are you talking about
Louder without distortion
yeah loudspeakers
oh just everything
yeah defo
hell you can even tell with good headphones, i was turning the orpheus up to like 110dB for moments and shit was still super clean
im not sure how but it was insane
god damn, how do your ears handle that
hehe
i mean, im exxaggerating lol
i obviously didnt have a spl meter on me
but it was way past normal listening level
so like, any tips on thrift shopping old bookshelf speakers and shit?
honestly its a massive gamble
Look at the terminal for the wire
buy something that looks reasonable and buy an imm6 and EQ the shit outta em
You want binding posts not the little clips
That's a good rule of thumb for mystery speakers
Not always gonna mean they're good but the extra money spent there is a good sign
the old lepai 2020A+ amps are pretty decent if you can pick one up cheap
would pair well for some thrift speakers
damn, this audio shit is a rabbit hole innit
yeah
headphones are cheap even for TOTL shit
4k Utopia and 6k Susvara are fucking pennies compared to speaker shit
hell even if you wanna go big bux and get a 007mk2 with some mad tubes or an orpheus youre still on the lighter end of speaker systems
honestly the best way to stay out of it is just live in an apartment and use some decent cheap IEMs
yeah, i was just looking for a fun project
