I sucked in my first playthrough with VBA using ps3 sixaxis controller/usb2. Then I played on a ds-lite using homebrew emulation and was able to nail 16hit cheer combos

The repro same thing, nailed it

I just wanna run it on my laptop. Open emu for Mac most likely.

Or maybe I just drop some coin on a sweet backlit GBA

The controller interface latency is going to be your weak link

The timing was made for GBC/A hardware

USB has extra conversion step on the i/o plus a completely different way of managing the input data

Backlit GBAs are kinda expensive. Should I just play on my SP or is the sound that bad

So you gain a minimum of 2frames lag

Which for a rhythm game makes it hardmode
