I see it censorship as a cultural thing
wonder if anyone in this server has a more expert knowledge on what net neutrality actually is, I tried to look but there is just propaganda about it that makes it look like the end all be all
What they want is for the government to have a pre-existing role in internet commerce, so they can move on to use the government club to silence opposition
this whole left movement is very orwellian and very scary
yeah the less the government has to do with it the better, at least from my limited knowledge
i remembered even in Crowder's comment sections on Net Neutrality is very polarized.
guess that is a healthy thing because conversation is encouraged
I want conversation
that's why I'm staying on youtube as long as youtube lets me
I don't specifically want to go to bitchute. I think it's going to be a right wing echo chamber
right now I'm just using it as a backup
That's the thing that is bothering me a lot about how even conservatives like Dave Cullen are calling for government intervention against Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and the like.
hmmm
yeah I don't know if that is a good idea
I don't like monopolistic tech companies getting really heavy handed on deciding what is and isn't allowed on their platforms, but I can't think of much worse than government intervention.
and supposedly people who support this internet bill of rights supports net neutrality
the funny thing is my friend doesn't believe that YouTube isn't a monopoly
Net Neutrality itself just seems like nothing so much as people giving the government credit it doesn't deserve.
"But there's Bitchute, and Minds, and whatever else! Youtube can't be a monopoly!"
lol
Yeah, but in the 90s, there was always Apple, but people bitched about what a monopoly Windows was.
I don't really like using that as an example though, considering that case went nowhere because Microsoft just started giving buckets of money to congress.
hmmm
Or at least, my understanding is that the biggest reason that Microsoft was brought to court for monopoly stuff was that they weren't lobbying congress. After that case, they started lobbying a whole lot more, and nothing has happened since.
I'm insanely bothered by the internet bill of rights
that's been one of the most bothersome concepts that's ever come across policy in my eyes
Ideally we don't even have to have it
it's nothing more than another government intervention
I don't know what that even means. I've never heard anyone reference it except by name.
just like gun rights, we shouldn't need a piece of paper to tell us that we have the right to be armed
talk next time then
should go to bed
wow I just came across some awesome widipedia. Is anyone familiar with the Russian Pale of Settelment?
If any of you are familiar with it, then you might have noticed the conspicuous fact that all of the territory that was The Pale are now states belonging to NATO, except Ukrain
