The things youtube recommends me. It's a couple of years old, but this was certainty a fun way to watch a police chase.

So it begins

2019-03-08 16:25:14 UTC

here's an interesting one for conservatives, would you support this?
government intervention and subsidies for children to address lower birth rates and lower immigration

2019-03-08 16:36:06 UTC

@Lord Zedd you mean taking less money through taxes and not imposing arbitrary regulations that increase the cost of things? I agree with that.

2019-03-08 16:39:09 UTC

it wasn't just tax cuts but subsidising cars, child care and IVF

2019-03-08 16:44:56 UTC

Why not make adoption easier?

2019-03-08 16:45:03 UTC

And abortion illegal

2019-03-08 16:49:53 UTC

is Abortion even legal in Hungary?

2019-03-08 16:50:36 UTC

how did I only just find out about this?

I don’t know. I hope it isn’t.

2019-03-08 16:52:14 UTC

I think the real question, is there a free market solution to declining birth rates?

2019-03-08 16:53:46 UTC

abortion tends to favour the poor so you end up with higher birth rates but to single mothers and they end up being more at risk of drugs and crime, it's not just having the kids but having them be productive as well

2019-03-08 16:54:07 UTC

Oh that video is great

2019-03-08 16:54:24 UTC

I wonder what the case for declining birth rates being bad is aside from welfare systems

2019-03-08 16:54:38 UTC

Abortion is not helpful.

2019-03-08 16:54:39 UTC

less children means less workers but also less people to feed

2019-03-08 16:54:45 UTC

Adoption is preferable

2019-03-08 16:55:06 UTC

Fixes the issue

2019-03-08 16:55:30 UTC

I think the lower birth rate among the higher class means that there's more resources put into fewer children giving them better chances in life

2019-03-08 16:55:49 UTC

Generally yes

2019-03-08 16:56:00 UTC

so lax immigration policy seems to just be introducing problems into something that isn't necessarily a problem

2019-03-08 16:57:42 UTC

I guess there is no free market solution since the result of the free market in the west is lower birth rates

2019-03-08 16:59:12 UTC

You'll want to keep an eye on Japan for seeing how that works out. They have a declining birthrate, so their population will decline within the next few decades, but they've been extremely resistant to immigration

2019-03-08 16:59:31 UTC

I doubt it will be as bad for them as some like to claim

2019-03-08 16:59:31 UTC

they're going with temporary workers instead

2019-03-08 16:59:44 UTC

That’s not inherently the result of the market. It’s a result of people’s values changing. It’s what happened when the church was pushed out of society

2019-03-08 17:00:01 UTC

basically accepting 0 immigration but just workers who will have claim on residency

2019-03-08 17:00:14 UTC

that is still the free market though

2019-03-08 17:00:18 UTC

people decide that

2019-03-08 17:00:26 UTC

People can easily raise 3 children, which is replacement.

2019-03-08 17:00:38 UTC

It’s a values issue.

2019-03-08 17:00:41 UTC

employers also probably prefer workers without children since they're getting more of their time

2019-03-08 17:00:51 UTC

The sexual revolution and feminism caused it.

2019-03-08 17:01:27 UTC

Can’t take more time from females if they are stay at home moms. Most women are happier that way anyways

2019-03-08 17:03:12 UTC

i think it's more broad than just feminism and sexual revolution, automation in the home, WW2's female workforce
it could be argued western society is really just optimising it's workforce getting the most value out of it
by getting women to work you almost double the work force

2019-03-08 17:03:48 UTC

there's an argument that could be made that the modern economy plays a big role in it

2019-03-08 17:04:31 UTC

Choices. Nothing makes women leave the home.

2019-03-08 17:04:40 UTC

and fewer children is just the next step in that optimisation

2019-03-08 17:05:35 UTC

The community I grew up in mostly has stay at home moms and the majority of families had 2-4 kids.

2019-03-08 17:05:41 UTC

I think you overvalue feminisms contributions

2019-03-08 17:05:55 UTC

a lot of the shit they take credit for was already in the works before they came along
