I think the reason he's called shooter instead of a terrorist (not sure this is actually accurate, I've heard both) is because the attack was with a gun and the MSM is used to focusing on the gun in these cases. A lot of Islamic attacks are with bombs or vehicles. The Boston Bomber is usually called a bomber. The truck attacks don't really have an equivalent since driver doesn't really get the point across.
