ive got almost 500 games on steam
that's something I don't get you can not like a particular practice Epic are doing but some are outright advocating for a steam monopoly
I dont play games as long as I used to so I feel bad if I pay full price for them
maybe it's the PC master race type
yea i think thats stange too @Lord Zedd
I've never understood that mindset, I go where the games are
advocating for a monopoly.
has steam ever been as heavy handed as epic though
I like competition but maybe epic isnt the right one
heavy handed with what tho? exclusives?
thats all ive heard ppl complain about
steam has exclusives
oh and i guess there was some sort of data mining thingtoo
which idk much about
they bought exclusive rights for games after the crowdfunding for these games promised the games on all platforms
that's on the original companies for selling out their backers
and in at least one case they didnt even refund people last time I checked
eh, im not really bothered by that.
why would they refund?
the game got made, even if it is missing one thing
no game has everything promised
sadly that's the reality of gaming these days everyone has a foot in china
because its fraud to take someones money under false pretenses than almost finish the game and then sell it to epic
i doubt thats actually fraud
what false pretences?
the game got made
if so, then EVERY game dev is guilty of fraud
for over promising
and hyping
unless they explicitly said this game is on steam
I get some people arent bothered by it but I personally dont want to use ten different stores for my games, so if someone gave a significant amount to a game developer I get why they would be pissed. If the thing doesnt matter to begin with, they shouldnt promise the game on all platforms when they crowdfund
and arent crowd funding objectives goals rather than actual promises?
crowd sourcing is a sucker's game though, if you're going to put up real money at least do it as an investor so you have an actual say and can get potential return
if having 10 different stores means i get the best product and price, then so be it
i will never advocate for a monopoly
yeah more competition the better
depends on the promise travis, sure they might not get everything done as they want, but when they say which platforms the game will be able to be bought from or what kind of game its going to be (fps, strategy, etc.) you should tell the truth as a developer
you cant guarantee distribution tho, and thats what that is
you cant take money for a strategy game, make an fps game and then say:"well crowdfunding goals are kinda open to interpretation"
each platform will have various terms and negotiations.
