That post by Denise I actually mostly agree with. I think you would be daft to go into debt for an art degree, but I have a lot of respect for freelance artists and other entertainers. Especially if they're good at it.

I believe that as automation replaces a lot of low skill jobs, entertainment jobs will take its place. Four years ago we would have thought it was crazy that people could make a comfortable living off of ig, Snapchat, YouTube, etc...

thing is, its a one in a million shot, and we can't even test for how successful someone will be in that regard, like we can for more certain degrees like engineers, via grades etc

some highschool dropout has about as much of a chance to make it, as someone with an art degree, maybe a bit less, but not really

Bring manufacturing back from overseas
Get rid of H1B in tech
Get rid of illegals in trades

She's doing a fine job of undermining any legitimate point she might have. Saying that someone should have gone to school for something more lucrative and saying that artists are drains on society and unworthy of life are two very different things, and it gives a lot of insight into how fucked her thought process is that she can't tell the difference.
