I mean the US prescribed punishment of treason is hanging. I don't see how much different it would be for the Church, and someone acting in direct contrast to the Church and it's doctrine effectively trying to neuter it. Same goes for the pedophiles who are using their position to gain access to children, and disgracing the sanctity of the Church and Cloth
