I might be able to forgive Yang's ridiculous plan if I thought he had a snowball's chance in hell of peeling back existing entitlements.
Biden is the Jeb of this election. He's got no chance once the field thins but until it does he'll keep coasting on name recognition.

The version I heard was that he was going to replace them all with a simple $1000 check to everyone no questions asked which I can swallow because it would be an improvement on our current system.

I value the simplicity a lot. It makes the system harder to game and removes the high effective marginal tax rate low income people have when additional income would disqualify them from entitlements.
I agree. I can't imagine how he'll manage to peel anything back with the amount of resistance every special interest would give him.

2. I think the new york times knows the "whistle blower" is a hack and this is their weird way of putting distance from the person.
The more I learned about the story, the more I came to believe that the 'whistleblower' was Trump, or someone acting on his orders.
Though I suppose maybe not, it doesn't seem like it would be in his interest to sink Biden's campaign, since Biden seems to me like the easiest to beat.
Im pretty sure the president has better things to do than intentionally create controversies like these.
