the world's gonna end next Tuesday guys unless you give me all your money
Lol.
That 12 years nonsense is just nonsense
Yeah, and I can't believe that people eat that shit up.
Plus, anyone who pays attention to energy realizes that renewables will 35-40% of electricity generation by 2030
and if you don't give me your money you're a science denier and hate children and puppies
Especially people my age, that have lived through multiple 'the world is ending in x years!' panics and ought to know better.
@wolfman1911 how old are you?
36
Ok. I’m 28
So not too far apart
it seems to me they just don't want to see their cushy lives changed in any way, god forbid the sea levels go up 1cm or they spend a bit more on air con
@Lord Zedd well, the real problem is that any solutions to address climate change are screened through some ridiculous purity test. The extremists only want 100% renewables, but not just any renewables just wind, solar, and small hydro. I’m not even kidding when I say that. They also assert that it should be possible if you just overbuild capacity by 2.5. That is an absurd amount of capacity.
and never mind the damage to local flora and fauna they do
and they absolute insane amount of space needed
Well, here’s the thing. They want to cover all roof space with solar.
By force
and don't dare think of using the latest in nuclear energy
Yeah. Nuclear is too impure.
For completely arbitrary reasons
odds it's going to be some combination of technologies like individual properties with solar panels with nuclear providing the bulk of power as long as those loons shut the fuck up we'll actually do the right thing ourselves
they're impeding the very science and the advancement that will fix the issues they raise
Well, the science worship ends at evolution and climate change. Those are the only ones that matter because they assume it threatens conservatism.
the objection to nuclear and GMOs pisses me off to no end
Same here
GMOs actually solve tons of problems
something I was thinking is we could actually create carbon pipes to help crops grow to feed so many more people and save so much woodland
and water
Plus there’s a GM mosquito that decimates populations to the point where disease transfer is very unlikely. Guess who’s against that? Leftists
yeah we could very well see the end of malaria
that is MASSIVE
that's bigger than curing cancer
Isn't everything that we grow as food a GMO at this point?
in a sense
Whether intentionally or not?
we've been messing with plants and animals for hundreds of years
@wolfman1911 pretty much yes.
carrots are naturally white
bananas are not sweet and are full of seeds
and straight
