"whites" or in this case earth have gone all over plundering any sort of capital they can find regardless of the human cost.
Is there honestly TV worth watching at this point?
The people on the belt, would really be like oil rig workers or something or any other dangerous but well paying job.
But in the books and the show they're literally a subspecies
"adapted to low g"
Man, it makes the premise even more racist if you think about it in terms of Abrahams TDS and his rantings about racist trump
It's it pretty racist to make an allegory about PoC on earth and make them literally a different species 🤔
We're reaching the final stage of woke
The belters are also shown as being kind like back water meth addicts, but if you take two seconds to think about what living in space would be like
everyone would probably be pretty smart
they'd have to be to be able to help fix and figure out how to fix anything that went wrong, even if it's to a lesser degree than with modern astronauts
it would still have to be above average intelligence people overall to maintain everything.
Lel
Fucking terran welfare queens
There's a china 1 child policy too
Yeah I barely watch anything at this point and hadn't read the books
Of course there is
Been watching The Boys but I like the comic better tbh. About halfway through both (S1 and the core comic series)
I reallyd did and still enjoy the first couple books
they go out of their way to hint at muslims in space too, like newsladies in Hijabs and shit
Also it bothers me that Simon Pegg is in the show but not as Hughie. He looks just like him
Ah, starts good but goes down the shitter or what?
But one of the Authors, it's a two author team under a psuedonym, has had multiple melt downs that have been recorded complaining about "conservatives", Republicans, and Trump
The other author just cringes Ty Frank
But, a lot of these set pieces in the worldbuilding actually make me realise it's how someone like Daniel Abraham sees the real world
They view it as inevitable that we'll have to have UBI, that anytime people move into new places they're oppressing the people there workers or otherwise. Etc
The whole main plot point is the tension between the belters, and Earth and Mars because the belters are "oppressed and exploited"
There's like a little detective murder mystery story in the first book that's still very good though, And the second book ties everything off, but there are like 8 books now.
That reminds me - I need to finish the Southern Reach and Sprawl trilogies
Might have to check out the first two Expanse books though. It at least sounds interesting if not terribly agreeable
VanderMeer is definitely a shitlib too
There's nothing too terrible about the first few books TBH
Gibson lives in Vancouver apparently so I'd assume he fits in politically overall
It's just noticing that one of the authors is a crazy shitlib who hates trump
Ah
and their whole thing is like the colonial opression narrative
That's basically what happened to the "Belters"
I kinda want a story that does the 50/50
even though if you look at any sort of group that would be like that in the real world, they'd all have gotten well off at worst, and damn rich at best
There's some corporate conspiracy stuff too
I'm making it sound more flat than it is, but it's definitely there
Earth is portrayed not so great with UBI
