```The National Council of Churches represents congregations across 40 denominations, including most of the major Protestant and Eastern Orthodox divisions of faith.```
So... not 100,000 churches
what's funny is all these people think they get a say...they don't
but like 40 people who happen to sit on a council for said churches
LOL
```The organization also cited an array of policy differences it believes Kavanaugh is on the wrong side of, including many progressive issues, such as climate change, voting rights, and “racial and gender justice.”```
Supreme court is not an elected position
demanding he step down just because they disagree with him
Reading is fun
wow
and of course
the first comment on that thread is "Ha ha, look at that, GOP, churches lawyers and professors are in agreement, your move"
neglecting the fact they literally quoted the "A group representing 100,000 congregations"
they did italicize the 45 million part though
time to block /r/politics as well
i don't care for 1 sided obvious stupidity
Just skip reddit. Many headaches avoided
@Holo 100% Christian here. Those goons don’t speak for me.
Jesus fucking Christ
You'd think that maybe, just maybe, somebody would wait for some sort of _grounds_ or _reason_ to burn a man's reputation to a crisp.
They have been grasping at straws for weeks now. Nothing will shock me anymore!
FFS they tried to construct an argument against Kavanagh because he threw ice cubes at somebody 35 years ago!
They're trying to get Conservatives on their side with the Christian card, yet again
Sorry but I'm Christian and want nothing more than for that guy to get confirmed
I think they lost Conservatives for a while with their behaviour in the last couple of month!
This will have far reaching consequences. They will never get those that they have lost back
It's kind of annoying that they have completely abandoned any pretense of principled opposition, and now they are just shy of openly stating "I think he's unqualified because I don't like him."
Well gosh, I wish Republicans had known that was a legit reason to oppose a justice when Sotomayor and Kagan were up.
Did anyone watch the video link where these people trolled feminist academic journals?
I haven't seen the video, but I heard Shapiro commenting on it
spoiler alert, it involves 120 seconds of that annoying nasally voice cackling
I said this in my video between the retirement of kennedy and the nomination of Kavanaugh. This isn't anything about how the dems don't like kavanaugh, this is their August Recess Equivalency
Yes, Kavanaugh will make it nearly impossible to legislate from the bench, but it goes further than that, and I knew that from the moment that Kennedy retired
The rhetoric started right there. Trump was going to get to nominate another Justice, and we will be legislated from the bench to make life into the Handmaids Tale
Kavanaugh said he would not actively seek an overturn of Roe but that didn't matter.
I'm partially in the camp that Kennedy retired when he did to put this into action.
This is all a Democrat Campaign. They can't run on the economy, or taxes, or jobs, or society, and they know it.
The house Democrats can run on the Articles of Impeachment, but the Senate had nothing to run on. The Supreme Court Opening made this a single issue midterm. If Kavanaugh gets confirmed, there's nothing for the vulnerable Democrats to run on anymore. I've often said that if Cocaine Mitch gets Kavanaugh through, RBG retires immediately after, to continue the momentum
Nice theory. Like I told Swanky and Wilfred in our voice chat last night, Dems are in infinite regress. They will never stop in their line of reasoning for any one given topic. They went into this with presuppositions, and it doesn't matter what evidence you show them, or what you demonstrate with reasoning.
After beating the dude I debated a few days ago on this case, he then changed tactics and started talking about things that led up to these accusations, completely beside the point.
I don't know if I think that would happen. Not that I doubt you, but I just think RBG has too much pride to actually retire now, instead of trying to survive until Trump is put of office.
If it's all electioneering, I could see it. Find me another policy for Warren to run on
it's important to note that my theory revolves around Brett getting confirmed before the midterms, and Ruthie retiring also before. If she doesn't do it before, she'll be holding on until 2020's election season starts
