Or did you mean Florida Disney?

2018-10-17 19:23:03 UTC

Florida

2018-10-17 19:23:05 UTC

Ah

2018-10-17 19:23:10 UTC

The good one

2018-10-17 19:23:16 UTC

I hear it's getting pricey there too

2018-10-17 19:24:03 UTC

They were looking at charging for parking at their hotels

2018-10-17 19:26:52 UTC

Traffic is a huge problem. Most people in cities could get by with a really small car or moped. They could rent or do car sharing to go out of town.

2018-10-17 19:28:14 UTC

The issue here is that people get bottlenecked

2018-10-17 19:28:53 UTC

If there were more bridges/tunnels this wouldn't be an issue

2018-10-17 19:30:06 UTC

Bridges and tunnels are pretty expensive.

2018-10-17 19:31:12 UTC

They are, but if you're going to have almost all the infrastructure on one side of the river, and one of the largest cities in the area on the other side 🤷

2018-10-17 19:31:29 UTC

What city?

2018-10-17 19:32:09 UTC

Couldn’t more trains fix this too?

2018-10-17 19:32:29 UTC

I'm in BC, infrastructure improvements typically go to Vancouver/Burnaby, Surrey is huge and on the other side of the river

2018-10-17 19:33:06 UTC

Ok. Interesting

2018-10-17 19:33:12 UTC

They're considering putting in "light rail" for Surrey/Langley/etc

2018-10-17 19:33:32 UTC

Surrey has like 2 stops on the whole line and they're next to each other

2018-10-17 19:33:50 UTC

In a gentrified area that used to be sketchy AF

2018-10-17 19:34:00 UTC

They were talking about designing a railroad that ran from East Orlando to Tampa but the city raised objections because Disney was going to be funding it and the city wouldn't be making any money off of it. It would be a net loss

2018-10-17 19:34:22 UTC

Public transportation is an interesting problem. More stops mean more time to travel. Its difficult to get it just right.

2018-10-17 19:35:21 UTC

Well the issue is that if you live in Guildford, Langley, etc, you basically gotta drive if you work in Vancouver/Burnaby/Coquitlam
Which means everyone has to live in the already saturated areas

2018-10-17 19:35:29 UTC

Or near enough to them that they can bus in

2018-10-17 19:36:06 UTC

They're trying to put apartments in out in White Rock where there's literally only two roads connecting it to the rest of the Lower Mainland and they already have bad traffic

2018-10-17 19:37:31 UTC

That’s interesting. City planning seems very difficult to me. Im a civil engineer (work in wastewater treatment). It’s fascinating to see how things develop over time.

2018-10-17 19:39:31 UTC

Yeah it's just quite stratified here. If Lauren didn't have way more interesting stuff to talk about, she'd still basically have free content talking about how weird the GVRD is

2018-10-17 19:40:16 UTC

She's from out this way, and her earlier vids were about going to school here and such

2018-10-17 19:40:35 UTC

Gvrd? The public transportation system?

2018-10-17 19:41:25 UTC

Greater Vancouver Regional District

2018-10-17 19:41:30 UTC

Just the general area

2018-10-17 19:41:55 UTC

Oh. Ok.

2018-10-17 19:42:02 UTC

I live in Alabama.

2018-10-17 19:42:27 UTC

It’s nice and not super crowded.

2018-10-17 19:42:51 UTC

Yeah we're getting spillage out into the countryside, which is pissing off people who live out there

2018-10-17 19:43:31 UTC

Tale as old as time. A bunch of ritzy city elitists want to expand and crush the poor land owners.

2018-10-17 19:43:39 UTC

Kelowna used to be quiet, now they have mentally ill homeless people, more crime, housing costs shot up
Lillooet wants all the hipsters gone

2018-10-17 19:44:37 UTC

Well, I’m sure that everyone is a little pissed that urban sprawl happens.

2018-10-17 19:45:29 UTC

The biggest case to be concerned about overpopulation is dealing with the big city brats wanting to spread about

2018-10-17 19:45:37 UTC

It's extra fucked though because like, Lillooet is about a 4 hour drive from Vancouver and previously had much less in the way of "conveniences". It's hard enough getting support for Surrey

2018-10-17 19:46:05 UTC

So like how long til all these other places are "full" and have the same issues, but little/no support

2018-10-17 19:46:32 UTC

Usually a generation or 2

2018-10-17 19:46:34 UTC

Hell, Chilliwack just gets Vancouver's smog every year. Blows into the valley lol
