I never got to play that character though.

2018-11-17 02:34:52 UTC

Man I kinda wanna reuse that Ork

2018-11-17 02:35:32 UTC

Couldn't you get around having a legit SIN by keeping at least one fake one that you use primarily?

2018-11-17 02:35:33 UTC

I didn't even put anything into rigging. He was just this stubbornly old-fashioned dude who insisted on driving manually and I put a ton of dice into that

2018-11-17 02:35:38 UTC

Basically

2018-11-17 02:35:42 UTC

And changing your appearance

2018-11-17 02:35:58 UTC

But anyone who makes any connection can royally fuck you up

2018-11-17 02:36:51 UTC

It was my compensation for my Face character- the annoyingly sneaky careful character who pretty much couldn't be traced followed up by one of the most vulnerable characters I've played

2018-11-17 02:38:35 UTC

How does this all happen on a table top game. It sounds as if you are describing a video game.

2018-11-17 02:39:00 UTC

It depends.

2018-11-17 02:39:04 UTC

Because it's just pen and paper. You make everything up. The games are very broad

2018-11-17 02:39:13 UTC

Ok.

2018-11-17 02:39:19 UTC

Some games use minuatures on a map, some are just descriptive.

2018-11-17 02:39:25 UTC

Broader than you could feasibly make with modern software without making major sacrifices

2018-11-17 02:39:32 UTC

It's interactive campfire stories

2018-11-17 02:39:35 UTC

Ok.

2018-11-17 02:39:36 UTC

I've never been a big grid and minis guy

2018-11-17 02:39:37 UTC

Exactly.

2018-11-17 02:39:43 UTC

Yeah, me neither.

2018-11-17 02:40:10 UTC

My group tried to impose it and we just never followed through. Abandoned positioning pieces after 30 minutes every time

2018-11-17 02:40:33 UTC

Oh. I get the modified camp fire story part. Did that sort of stuff in Scouts. The stories just got progressively worse. Lol

2018-11-17 02:40:50 UTC

But yeah the dice rolls and rules are just like... arbitration

2018-11-17 02:41:08 UTC

Player wants to do X, DM wants to do Y, rolls happen

2018-11-17 02:41:42 UTC

Or a rule prevents/supports it

2018-11-17 02:42:04 UTC

If you aren't on the same page, things fall apart pretty quick

2018-11-17 02:42:18 UTC

One thing I've learned is that I don't know if this says anything about me as a person, but I probably should not play characters that are too fanatical, especially suicidally so.

2018-11-17 02:43:02 UTC

On at least two occasions, I've had the GM ask if I was trying to kill my character.

2018-11-17 02:43:13 UTC

Well that's why the rules exist, to keep everyone on the same page

2018-11-17 02:43:40 UTC

That's why Freeform RP is almost invariably a shitfest, in comparison

2018-11-17 02:44:23 UTC

I had a power hungry character but, again, didn't get far enough to turn abusive

2018-11-17 02:44:32 UTC

Most campaigns die early. RIP

2018-11-17 02:45:12 UTC

There was one in particular that was a DnD 5 game, but the setting was Warhammer fantasy, but with a little bit of regular DnD stuff thrown in, like demons that weren't aligned with Chaos.

2018-11-17 02:45:42 UTC

You guys ever hear of Deck Quest?

2018-11-17 02:45:46 UTC

I was playing a Dwarf Slayer, because Dwarfs, fuck yeah.

2018-11-17 02:45:51 UTC

I have not

2018-11-17 02:45:57 UTC

Me neither.

2018-11-17 02:46:59 UTC

It's a deck of cards used to kind of guide you into a PnP game. They have locations and maps and your character's personality can have a bit more flare since you are choosing a couple of cards out of a hand to use

2018-11-17 02:47:01 UTC

And we encountered a demon that was bound in a summoning circle, but otherwise unattended. There were more levels between it and us than we had. I'm sure you can imagine how that went.

2018-11-17 02:47:25 UTC

I've seen similar scenarios

2018-11-17 02:47:45 UTC

One that went well due to fiat and party intervention, one that went hilariously poorly

2018-11-17 02:48:13 UTC

There's a game I've heard of called IronSworn that has an option that allows for playing without a GM that sounds kinda similar to that.
