Well japan has a debt to gdp ratio twice ours and they are still going strong
Yeah well
So they are a pretty good canary in teh coal mine
Japan is the only country worse then us and they're in an unusual spot.
When no one loans them any more money well know how much time weve got
Hahaha.
I'd have to look into it more, the question is how does Japan set up its public services, debt, foreign exposure, ect.
Maybe they're putting all their debt public vs us who have hidden it more in retirement areas.
Social Security and Healthcare.
are what cause it for us
Our SS system is technically never in debt. It's always got more assets than liabilities. However, those assets are government bonds. So our government's debt is mainly debt to itself. Or another way an IOU of our trust fund.
Lawyer reviews coming YT Armegedon
@codrod Ive also heard retirement funds, even government ones, are wildly underfunded all over America.
Cali has cities that are billions in the red and will come due in the next decade.
who wants to retire? thats how you die young
my grandpa is still working at 94 lol. doesnt have to but keeps him healthy
Start Retirement planning as soon as you get your first job.
or dont retire
and not die early
and buy Short/Long term disability insurance.
Wise words
Even if you somehow never retire, you'll be a good parent and leave your kids assets.
Yeah but lots of people drift in their 20s
Or have terrible hardships or just a bad job.
Well don’t be like I was
Yeah or like I was.
Just because society allows us to be degenerates, doesn't mean we should.
I think a lot of men are programmed to drift until 30’s
I didn't start right away, but probably sooner than most
Ok see you say that, but if you look at the $$$s of retirement, assuming you don't have an auto retirement fund....
If you just had to put the money aside yourself.
You need something like a million dollars to retire on no income.
that's why a 401k is a great start. it kinda just goes on its own
Well something is s ll better than nothing
Still. Even if you cannot hit a life leisure retirement goal
I'm just saying it can be really tight, and unless you retire to poverty, you need to save up a huge amount of money.
Because its hard to make a prime of life salary in the sunset years
your 401k isn't just a block of money though, it's invested
Look at biden. No one wants to hire him
