dunno bout beemers, but merc's suck balls in terms of reliability and serviceability

2019-12-12 22:00:25 UTC

@Purple were yours Toyotas or somethin?

2019-12-12 22:00:47 UTC

One of them was, yea

2019-12-12 22:00:52 UTC

nice

2019-12-12 22:01:32 UTC

my mom has had Toyota almost her whole life and they've done extremely well... except now she fell for the electric car meme

2019-12-12 22:01:45 UTC

it's been nothing but an inconvenience

2019-12-12 22:01:52 UTC

I should also add he thinks he's a racecar mechanic so he does lots of weird stuff to his cars. He's only crashed once. He just keeps blowing the engine

2019-12-12 22:02:08 UTC

lol

2019-12-12 22:03:04 UTC

At one point he would travel with a length of hose in his trunk just so he could cut it down to replace intercooler hoses he would bust at least once a week

2019-12-12 22:03:14 UTC

Because he had a turbo with a welded wastegate

2019-12-12 22:03:14 UTC

I had a 1992 ford probe that lasted me 15 years

2019-12-12 22:03:19 UTC

and when I had it it was an old car

2019-12-12 22:04:12 UTC

Jeez, they definitely don't make those anymore. I can't say I've seen a ford probe

2019-12-12 22:04:36 UTC

I had to replace the radiator

2019-12-12 22:04:41 UTC

eventually the transmission just died

2019-12-12 22:04:44 UTC

the engine was fine

2019-12-12 22:06:35 UTC

anyone got any recommendations for reliable used cars... also, first car. I don't even have my license yet

2019-12-12 22:06:58 UTC

There is no reliable used car in terms of what you're buying

2019-12-12 22:07:29 UTC

try to buy from the owner, look up carfax or w/e.

2019-12-12 22:08:07 UTC

do your research. You have google.

2019-12-12 22:08:39 UTC

As far as brand? I'd go with toyota or ford. Their engines are tough, even if you are forgetful with changing oil on time, they will survive better than other motors.

2019-12-12 22:08:39 UTC

I prefer asking people directly for personal experience first

2019-12-12 22:08:40 UTC

Car dealerships are scum.

2019-12-12 22:09:42 UTC

The problem is the model could be great but the owner could've trashed it and fixed it up...

2019-12-12 22:09:46 UTC

put lipstick on the pig

2019-12-12 22:09:58 UTC

you can't just go by model, used car dealerships are the worst with that...

2019-12-12 22:10:40 UTC

Look in your area in your price range

2019-12-12 22:10:43 UTC

see what htey have to offer

2019-12-12 22:10:48 UTC

look up those cars online

2019-12-12 22:11:04 UTC

quit expecting an easy "correct" answer

2019-12-12 22:11:35 UTC

or buy like the cheapest cheap corolla new for like 18k

2019-12-12 22:12:54 UTC

A lot of the used car dealerships, even if they're honest don't really know fuck all about the cars they have.

2019-12-12 22:13:00 UTC

Especially since so many come from Auction

2019-12-12 22:25:42 UTC

I took a racial implicit bias test
It said I **strongly** prefer the presence of white people lol

I also took an ethnocentrism test
It said I **strongly** prefer to be with my own kind

Have I met the cut for the Kevin Troll Gang?

2019-12-12 22:25:58 UTC

no

2019-12-12 22:26:04 UTC

because you're still a selfhating shitlib

2019-12-12 22:26:05 UTC

Dang

2019-12-12 22:26:42 UTC

How am I self hating?

It said I strongly prefer white people and my own group over other groups

2019-12-12 22:26:53 UTC

lol I'm a programmer, I never expect an "easy 'correct' answer"

2019-12-12 22:27:27 UTC

Uh-huh

2019-12-12 22:27:41 UTC

You're a programmer and you can't figure out how to buy a used car?
