@tulio (túlio) obviously integrated circuits aren't, but the components get assembled onto the circuit board by hand. If you wanna learn more, see the first chapter of "The Hardware Hacker: Adventures in Making and Breaking Hardware" by Andrew "bunnie" Huang.
do they solder SMDs by hand too?
Do you think there could ever be something like Shenzen in a semi-free country? I'd love to live close to someplace where all the components and electronics books are cheap af, but I don't wanna give up muh freedoms in order to do so.
@tulio (túlio) Not sure, but just look at a Foxconn assembly line and see how much is done by hand. There's over 500 people in those lines.
I've seem them, I stand corrected
Seriously tho, read the book I mentioned. It's well written and interesting af.
@(import (srfi 151)) does HK sort of count?
it's just next door to shenzhen
Hmm… maybe.
cost of living is quite though though
Shit…
nazi

is it worth buying chinese solder/soldering iron?
Yeah, I use a chink soldering iron.
My only regret is not buying a stronger one.
tempwise?
the yihuas I hear are decent
I use it every so often. I've gotten more than 20 uses out of it.
I dunno if I'd use Chinese solder without a proper fume Hood.
Just make sure your room is ventilated.
Yeah, basically.
solder is solder
Ye
it's all bad to breathe
Do it anyway though.
now i have to build a fume hood
Is lead free solder still shit?
Or just do your soldering outside.
are chinese fume hoods worth it?
🤷
lol
just get the lead solder
soldering now and then wont give you cancer

lead solder flows better
i'm gonna be soldering a lot
like maybe everyday
