nah, dacs dont do much to sound really

my carat topaz dac sounds similar to the modi

unless theyre faulty

but the x6 is more warm and less sterile sounding

i havent abx'd any tho so i cant say for sure

did u get the modi to be sterile sounding

its more warm imo, tho i only used it in chain with a magni 2
