i've had nimh batteries ranging from eneloops to cheap who-the-fuck-knows bargain bin shit and aside from the latter not really holding good charges i've never had problems with them

the other worry would be how much current they draw out of the USB

i won't fucking touch chinese lithium batteries though

they could literally be hub\charger killers
