Curing time
there's also the 3d printing markup
like how virgin abs pellets costs next to nothing but abs filament for 3d printer can cost $30/kg for a decent brand
Cant you combat that with an insanely bright UV projection solution though?
probably
give it a shot and lemme know how it goes
I know you can get 50W UV leds
it may make me less hesitant to go for dlp
and i can rig an adequate cooling system
i plan to sell miniatures to local tabletop people anyway and that'll offset the cost of even expensive resin pretty quick, but
i need some uv resin to make ciem shells
That's my use
o shit
also artisan keycaps
also will sell 3d print service
that reminds me
how much do you think i could sell a stone keycap for
I have no fucking idea
i have the tools to make it happen
i just know people on geekhack spend too much money on this shit
i really need to get a dual extruder fdm machine tbh
FDM is really slow compared to SLA tho
it is, but i very much want to be able to do multimaterial prints
i wanna print TPU feet in place on electronics enclosure and such
or tpu living hinges on nylon box
or the PVA supports for wacky overhangs
Those are actually some pretty good uses
how cheap is FDM
compared to SLA
Since SLA is apparently bottlenecked by resin price
my most expensive fdm machine was $350
filament can be had as cheap as $15/kg if you do some shopping and have an extruder that can handle the looser tolerances
for ABS/PLA
My goal is to have production ready parts out the oven
but FDM doesnt really fit the bill
if you wanna work much other than ABS or PLA you'll very likely need to modify your printer
I want high end features but i really havent owned any 3d printing solution
i had to replace my hotend with an all steel and aluminum one, no plastic tubing, and upgrade my extruder stepper, and change my firmware
im thinking fdm might be a logical
starting point
