How sharp can you get a knife with it? I can get it to cut paper very smoothly but it's never the level of sharpness that you can find in new knives

you can get a very smooth cut after sharpening with that, yes

probably not as smooth as working with a quality stone set after you have some experience with it

but hell, the blade medic is so dumb proof it makes it all worth it
