e.g. years ago now (about 5 years ago) i got an MXL 990 for about £60 which was the going rate at the time and about 1/2 what a yeti cost

used it for professional vo work, fantastic sounding mic. give it to my little sister for recording music when i stopped doing VO, she still loves it

it was mostly a hobby thing for some extra income, i never made full time money off it

I can vouch for the Rode NT-USB as being fantastic, comes with a pop filter but is more expensive than the yeti. Depends on how cheap you can find it

i auditioned for loads of stuff, but people really liked me for training videos and stuff like that for internal corporate use

not glamorous. i don't think i was ever in anything made for public broadcast, actually

I haven't used the Audio Technica AT2020 (doesn't look like USB, that one would be 129) myself but it's going for $99US on Amazon right now so that might be worth it, depending on how it actually sounds
