@Julian Most vintage watches on eBay are frankenwatches - pooinloos take multiple broken ones and assemble a few out of the salvageable parts. Dials are often among the first things to get damaged so the Indian offers often come in.. _interesting_ altered variations. Bright colors, poorly painted indexes and so on is a dead giveaway.
