even with -50% (dunno yet hopefully around that or more)

2018-05-22 10:30:27 UTC

its quite good

2018-05-22 10:38:03 UTC

You get the materials on 3D print for free?

2018-05-22 10:38:05 UTC

Damn

2018-05-22 10:38:19 UTC

Is it that unpopular to print at your place?

2018-05-22 10:39:02 UTC

<--mechanical engineering student at UAS

2018-05-22 10:39:38 UTC

so yeah asking price from it would be quite silly

2018-05-22 10:39:55 UTC

as the plastics dont cost really nothing when bulk ordered by schools

2018-05-22 10:40:47 UTC

and they might get extra discounts since theyre, y'know, schools

2018-05-22 10:41:33 UTC

yeah afaik we get some rarer materials (wood, test materials like 10% metal, stuff for our printers for free from local places

2018-05-22 10:41:41 UTC

just so we test em and invent around them

2018-05-22 10:43:45 UTC

I should probably play around with the printers we have but I dont know CAD at all

2018-05-22 10:44:13 UTC

one of my dads colleagues from belarus is a huge 3d printing nerd and he has some neat spray that he uses on prints

2018-05-22 10:44:31 UTC

it melts the surface a bit and makes them all glossy and nice

2018-05-22 10:44:41 UTC

it must be acetone

2018-05-22 10:47:26 UTC

acetone is decent yeah... also jewelwry polishes and dremel

2018-05-22 10:48:04 UTC

Maybe we need some more motivated people in control then I guess.
Besides the institute's ones, we got two public ones for all students. They run almost 24/7 even while you gotta pay for materials yourself (You can also use your own though)

2018-05-22 10:49:04 UTC

arent the materials cheap af generally?

2018-05-22 10:49:35 UTC

20bucks for a roll (750mg)

2018-05-22 10:49:49 UTC

also, @Tervy do you know any good sites where people can upload their own 3d prints?

2018-05-22 10:49:58 UTC

maybe I'll try printing a phone stand

2018-05-22 10:50:31 UTC

Thinking about it

2018-05-22 10:50:52 UTC

Anyone here tried some cheap chink printing material?

2018-05-22 10:50:57 UTC

thingivverse is first one to come to mind

2018-05-22 10:51:03 UTC

there is multiple ones

2018-05-22 10:51:23 UTC

Kinda tempted now, but don't wanna melt in the university's printer

2018-05-22 10:51:29 UTC

@Sdeck37 chink stuff is decent for demo/protype shit but not for end product

2018-05-22 10:51:59 UTC

there is also Yeggi what is decent as is all3dp.com

2018-05-22 10:52:11 UTC

afaik 4chans /3/ has more info about those

2018-05-22 10:52:38 UTC

If it's an end product it'll be moulded anyway tbh

2018-05-22 10:52:48 UTC
2018-05-22 10:53:35 UTC

STLfinder is good one too

2018-05-22 10:54:09 UTC

tho its important to remember to always check sizes and everything else

2018-05-22 10:54:23 UTC

Grabcad is good one too

2018-05-22 10:55:28 UTC

I'd add a notch on each side on that one

2018-05-22 10:56:01 UTC

Also get some fine sandpaper, it'll make your prints feel 78% better

2018-05-22 10:56:21 UTC

^this also quite accurate %

2018-05-22 11:12:15 UTC

i keep tinkering with my printer because it never works quite right resulting in me basically never printing anything <:alismirk:230784726615588865>

2018-05-22 11:26:35 UTC

>want a tablet

2018-05-22 11:26:42 UTC

>then figure out tablets are useless anyways

2018-05-22 11:26:46 UTC

>still want to buy one
