Damn it lacks a ton of cellular bands

2018-10-11 13:52:14 UTC

yeah

2018-10-11 13:52:28 UTC

didn't know that about it, huh

2018-10-11 13:52:35 UTC

also i was very hesitant about getting a phone without a headphone jack

2018-10-11 13:52:40 UTC

but its been a week and i'm already over it

2018-10-11 13:53:06 UTC

i have a little adapter that means i can charge and use headphones at the same time, and it works fine. tiiiiny bit of electrical noise, but you can't hear it as soon as you play anything

2018-10-11 13:53:40 UTC

don't mean to be a no-jack apologist, i still think it's a fucking dumb thing to get rid of and i'd rather they kept it, but yknow, i pretty much haven't noticed its absence unlike i thought i would

2018-10-11 13:54:23 UTC

But that means if you lose the dongle you won't be able to use headphones until you get a new one?

2018-10-11 13:54:44 UTC

well, now i have two dongles, the one that came with the phone and the second one i bought so i could charge at the same time

2018-10-11 13:54:49 UTC

but i do also have some bluetooth headphones as backup

2018-10-11 13:55:09 UTC

chances of me losing the dongle are virtually 0 though, its never detached from my headphones. basically just part of the headphone cable at this point

2018-10-11 13:55:59 UTC

@Adam W I have a dedicated player but most of often when I use the jack on my phone its for podcasts or calling

2018-10-11 13:56:15 UTC

so pulling out a dongle for that would be annoying

2018-10-11 13:56:33 UTC

instead of just unplugging the jack from my walkman and plugging into my phond

2018-10-11 13:56:36 UTC

i can understand that. i don't have anything else i plug the same headphones into so its not an issue for me

2018-10-11 13:57:22 UTC

ultimately for me i just wanted a phone without a notch more than i wanted a phone with a headphone jack

2018-10-11 13:57:35 UTC

so my choices were immediately very limited

2018-10-11 13:57:48 UTC

I'm thinking of getting the sony compact phone

2018-10-11 13:58:01 UTC

they still make those?

2018-10-11 13:58:23 UTC

I think so, and I believe it has a jack

2018-10-11 13:58:53 UTC

"XZ1"
they're running out of cool sounding letters arent they

2018-10-11 13:58:53 UTC

if not guess I'll just stick with cheap samshit phones

2018-10-11 13:59:16 UTC

i mean if you don't care about flagship specs then the redmi note series is still good i believe

2018-10-11 13:59:23 UTC

and they still have headphone jacks

2018-10-11 13:59:36 UTC

you're clearly not familiar with sonys naming schemes

2018-10-11 13:59:50 UTC

for instance, my sony walkman is an NWA45

2018-10-11 14:00:22 UTC

Sony has its own ecosystem for naming shit

2018-10-11 14:00:30 UTC

I dont care about flagship yeah, I just want things to run farely smooth and be up to date

2018-10-11 14:00:49 UTC

yeah most of their headphones go by MDR

2018-10-11 14:01:12 UTC

They have a ton more

2018-10-11 14:01:20 UTC

if they are beats clones theyll go by XB though

2018-10-11 14:02:00 UTC

I still wonder if chinklets have great neckband speakers

2018-10-11 14:02:17 UTC

neckbands are a meme

2018-10-11 14:02:22 UTC

Techmoan really disliked the jbl pair but they are only €77 now

2018-10-11 14:02:49 UTC

techboomer doesnt know what open backs are which would fit his use case

2018-10-11 14:03:10 UTC

He explained in his video that he wanted to clearly hear his environment

2018-10-11 14:03:35 UTC

I mean his example was a knock

2018-10-11 14:05:25 UTC

Well if you are blasting music then a speaker/neckband is Handy

2018-10-11 14:07:35 UTC

@floral rtings even made a leak test but somehow hifiman Amanda (a open back pair) beat these on the leak test
