The year 1752 was when Britain and her colonies (namely the USA) switched from the Julian to Gregorian calendars. To serve as a reallignment, because the Julian calendar was ahead of how many solar days actually passed during its use, 11 days were removed when the switch to Gregorian took effect in 1752.
