@Red Korvo yeah walk against traffic on a highway
you will lose hearing
just more slowly
Either the machinery is loud enough to trip the compression, and you’re just hearing a compressed noise of the machinery and not be able to hear speaking
So the "sound amplification" isn't something you want to turn on all day
cool, on my way.
Hell, you don't want it on at all
which is why dudes either double up or shoot canned
Or the machinery doesn’t trip the compression, and you get amplified machinery noise piped through your headset all day
In either case, you don’t get to hear dudes speaking
So you're going to reach up and turn it on when you have to talk to someone, and at that point you might as well take off the muffs and put it back on when you're done
How does he not understand
If you’ve ever been on a helicopter, you’d know what I’m talking about
You can’t fucking talk to each other unless you’re using the intercom headsets
or a small prop plane
Peltors are worthless
oh look
All my dudes can be wearing peltors and I’d still be shouting to have them hear me, and they still can’t hear dick
But the crew is plugged into an intercom
So that’s where you’re going to find yourself with this comtac situation
Unless everyone in your factory springs for VIs and you all talk using NIB
Unironically, regular noise cancelling headphones over foamies are infinitely more comfortable in a constant noise workplace
Ok THAT is actually starting to make sense. So basically the only advantage to basic ear pro would be not having to take them off to talk to someone? And there's a possibility they'll amplify 85Db machines and be worse?
there is that chance. 85 db is right at the cut off
They will amplify literally everything that makes noise in your workplace
which is why people just use "dead" ear pro
OR
they use electronics headset, and ear plugs underneath
I hope you like listening to that machinery just get piped through your headset all day if you use active earpro
constant protection but you can actually hear people
Computer fan? Make that 10x louder
Machinery clank? Retard loud
or you could just turn the volume down
yeah really
Or just take off regular earpro
it's not like it's automatically set to 85 db
And put it back on
