that's good with suppressing
So, it's perfect for hog hunting
I still say that building a nice AR10 is the best semi .308
What are the actual draw backs?
Large bolt eats up lesser optics
Price. Proprietary mags. Optics rape
But I don't really know about that
It eats optics is the biggest drawback.
Honestly that’s about as far as my complaints go. I enjoyed shooting both of the ones I handled
Afaik for 5.56 vs 7.62, 7.62 has more penetration and is larger round. That about right?
Uh...
this looks photoshopped
(im asking because I don't know)
Generally people ask questions they don’t know the answer to
So... layman’s terms I guess
Yes, 7.62x51 is a larger caliber round.
By eats optics, you mean the recoil destroys them over time?
Yeah
Is that a fucking Hogue grip?
Ergo grip
Oh, well i really didn't think i had a good shot at answering it right.
Doesn't that make it rough to shoot?
Not necessarily
The bolt I mean.
It's actually what's supposed to make the SCAR so pleasant to shoot
Barring the gas
So how does the force from the bolt hurt the optic then?
You know how pellet rifles work right
When you pull the trigger the piston inside the rifle slams forward, propels the pellet out
The heavy ass bolt in the scar is like the piston in an air rifle, slams forward hard
Most optics are designed to withstand recoil forces primarily affecting them in the other direction, not jerking them forward
Can the recoil spring not be dialed back?
... no
I might be thinking about the ar too much.
It has nothing to do with the spring at all
It’s just the mass of the bolt
If you changed the tension or pressure of the spring you’d have to adjust the gas system to compensate for the change in delay
