Nothing it's a choice. I have never worn it. My dad does when he goes to the temple though.
if you wanna equate ritualism to cultlike behavior then go for it but you're a smoothbrain
@glacial pace I'm well aware of "cafeteria Catholics/Christians", having gone to Catholic school K through 12
you should go to liturgy sometime
Cult is a weird word because it usually hinges on what the government thinks of your church. It's a dangerous road to start throwing the word around. It's a relatively old chirstian sect. But they are very private and very religious.
@glacial pace not the ritualism but it being expected to have everyone in your business all the time give me cult vibes
They aren't in your business, but they check up on you.
Also not unlike jews its pretty taboo to daye outside of the church from what i understand
They are regular church lady nosey.
@glacial pace if that was directed at me then I'll have to pass
do it once it wont hurt you
But.. when I got into a car crash two church elders found out and lifted me into my house when I couldn't walk. Then litterally 15-20 different women brought me casseroles in case I couldn't cook.
@Sauerkraut its more likely that my friends experience was because of how shitty that specific church was and less likely that spying on members dates is the norm
Like they were tailing hard i remmember him runnin redlights n shit n theyd just keep on followin
@Festive so out west the churches are more extreme and religious. They can be over bearing and nosey. It like all faiths depends on where you are.
@glacial pace I mean I was raised Catholic and used to go to Mass every week, but at this point faith and religion just don't mean much of anything to me anymore
>Then litterally 15-20 different women brought me casseroles in case I couldn't cook.
wtf joining lds rn???
the church family i grew up around is methodist (steven ministry) and we'd do similar things within the community, but my hometown is also surrounded by water on all sides, so
LDS mandated gf
they had lds at basic
the mormon in my flight was also a recovering alcoholic and drug addict
yeah, good community shit
also everyone (everyone) is white
so
@benny we have something called service. We find someone who needs something and mob their house with help. With 25 other dudes I have packed and moved countless houses in half a day while the women cook us huge meals.
@Sauerkraut does LDS allow shitskins
is miscegenation worthy of exile
asking the important questions
@uzidead church mandated gfs are an actual thing. If you are a member and single they send you to a singles ward to get married off.
this is the important question
@Sauerkraut bro what
Also yea are nigs allowed or no
@glacial pace yes. In the 70s blacks were allowed to be full members and hold priesthood.
I think every Christian knows that, ethically, Mormons are great people helping the country, but textually, their beliefs are incorrect.
arranged marriages are and have been common practice even in secular communities forever
also DROPPED
But it's rare. I have never known a black Mormon
My neighbor is
kinda weird
Forced marriage though
