I've got an rtl sdr, it's great. You can RX on almost any frequency for $30.

2019-11-09 23:54:53 UTC

I have the nooelec

2019-11-09 23:55:01 UTC

It’s bad ass

2019-11-09 23:55:53 UTC

Any of you guys on DMR

2019-11-09 23:56:00 UTC

Dmr?

2019-11-09 23:56:19 UTC

Digital Mobile Radio

2019-11-09 23:56:52 UTC

It’s one of the big 3 digital formats for amateur

2019-11-09 23:57:15 UTC

The only non proprietary one

2019-11-09 23:57:35 UTC

I've started throwing my rtl sdr and UV82 in my backpack every time I travel now. Could always come in handy, and if i get bored I can always scan the bands.

2019-11-09 23:58:50 UTC

So much capability in such a small package.

2019-11-09 23:59:40 UTC

Yea there just neat to have in general

2019-11-09 23:59:53 UTC

@All UCP Everything I'll have to give it a shot, i never knew what digital modes were widely used. So many acronyms get thrown around. Is it uhf/vhf? Distributed servers?

2019-11-10 00:01:10 UTC

It’s all vhf/uhf

2019-11-10 00:02:24 UTC

It’s a big pain in the ass to program at first, but the radios are inexpensive and they have a lot of capability

2019-11-10 00:05:27 UTC

Is there an Android app connecting Audio to a radio?

2019-11-10 00:07:54 UTC

@Festive Washington, but I'm not interested in state discords. Been there and done that. We gathered all the chads and left to do our own thing.

2019-11-10 00:08:45 UTC

what part of the state

2019-11-10 00:08:57 UTC

because hello there fellow WA fag

2019-11-10 00:09:08 UTC

Kitsap

2019-11-10 00:12:00 UTC

Some dmr handhelds have Bluetooth, so maybe

2019-11-10 00:12:30 UTC

But the digital processing is all done in the radio itself if that’s what you’re asking

2019-11-10 00:13:40 UTC

You can also use hotspots connected to the internet

2019-11-10 00:14:05 UTC

And there are DMR repeaters in most areas

2019-11-10 00:18:00 UTC

Is there a reason a phone couldn't take the raw audio and decode it, then generate their own encoded audio output? Aprs has apps like that.

2019-11-10 00:19:09 UTC

I’m not sure something like that exists, but it could be possible

2019-11-10 00:19:21 UTC

@uzidead we've got a group of about 14 or so good dudes who get together pretty regular. A lot of conflicting schedules and whatnot.

2019-11-10 00:20:13 UTC

It’s pretty cool

2019-11-10 00:20:20 UTC

Like poor man’s hf

2019-11-10 00:20:30 UTC
2019-11-10 00:20:48 UTC

But digital sounds better

2019-11-10 00:21:39 UTC

@tacticoolyourjets I'm stuck in the shittiest part of WA so I need to establish more connections

2019-11-10 00:21:47 UTC

If it’s within the limit of propagation range, it sounds pretty much the same no matter the distance or anything

2019-11-10 00:24:58 UTC

Is it more intensive in terms of digital signal processing than the AX.25 used for aprs? Maybe DMRs need a good DSP chip.

2019-11-10 00:25:37 UTC

Seattle is the biggest gay

2019-11-10 00:28:09 UTC

I really don’t know

2019-11-10 00:28:59 UTC

@uzidead cool. I'm gone a lot but I can put you in touch with some dudes who are around more

2019-11-10 00:29:33 UTC

You're not a fag, right?

2019-11-10 00:31:09 UTC
