I think I like how you mounted your light better. I put the Haley mount on the gas tube but mounting it on the side looks cleaner
Not a crazy big fan of the handguard though
not yet, my AK is a Saiga sporter and it's being converted rn
yeah my biggest complaint is that the MLOK doesn't start for the first 4" of the handguard.
and if I could go back in time I wouldn't have got one with integrated pic rails and QD swivels

I've been looking at SLR for a long time too, especially as a replacement for my ARs' handguards
The ar handguards are pretty nice
@Lapland their AR rails are probably fine, just don't get their integrated rails. Their AK handguards are a little too close to AR handguards
It's still a hot minute before I'll pick any of their rails
their AK rails have a psuedo barrel nut to free float the handguard which is why the MLOK doesn't start where I'd like it to
What are you trying to attach that far back?
the integrated rails look cool but aren't very space efficient and AKs already have limited rail estate

my sling solution was a haley strategic pic rail mounted QD socket on the gas tube
and to mount my grip as far back as I liked I used a strike industries grip and cantilevered it back
Dang, that's a lot of concessions to get your mount to where you want it
The overall appearance of integrated mounts doesn't look bad and I feel it helps with shaving a tiny smidgen of weight
But I feel ya on it not being where you want it exactly
Why MI is cringe
Granted, I like the feel of the MI handguard almost like the BCM but with small groves of extra texture
if you're concerned about weight get the RS Regulate handguard
it's only 6oz
