Huge numbers of retards build ARs and tons of videos have a lot of ridiculous misinformation

2020-01-13 19:31:43 UTC

dont do it, you'll just somehow manage to anneal your barrel

2020-01-13 19:31:44 UTC

Arfcom tuning guide has people laying shims around the barrel to make it tighter. That would be wack

2020-01-13 19:31:57 UTC

That’s common

2020-01-13 19:32:00 UTC

Feeling around again, there actually isn't a noticeable bur. It looked like there was one though.

2020-01-13 19:32:03 UTC

just take it to the fucking gunsmith

2020-01-13 19:32:10 UTC

I've never had an extension that loose

2020-01-13 19:32:20 UTC

What parts did you buy?

2020-01-13 19:32:25 UTC

This dude really earning his blue name

2020-01-13 19:32:35 UTC

Nor have I but I know people will do it just to make it jam packed tight

2020-01-13 19:32:39 UTC

Faxon Gunner barrel, Aero milspec upper.

2020-01-13 19:32:50 UTC

yeah i assure you there is no problem with the parts

2020-01-13 19:32:51 UTC

They're both probably right

2020-01-13 19:33:05 UTC

i trust both faxon and aero a lot more than i trust you

2020-01-13 19:33:07 UTC

Yeah both of those are fine

2020-01-13 19:33:14 UTC

Those companies will have go/no go gauges in production and qc

2020-01-13 19:33:20 UTC

You should really reassess building your own AR before you lose an eye to a detent and spring

2020-01-13 19:33:25 UTC

Well that's a relief. I've been counting the hours to the barrel getting delivered.

2020-01-13 19:33:35 UTC

wait

2020-01-13 19:33:40 UTC

you dont have the barrel?

2020-01-13 19:33:41 UTC

🤔

2020-01-13 19:33:52 UTC

@5W upper and lower are already assembled but ok.

2020-01-13 19:34:09 UTC

How is it assembled if the barrel is not in it

2020-01-13 19:34:22 UTC

@glacial pace yes I do. I just got it. I've been waiting and didn't want to have to return something.

2020-01-13 19:34:35 UTC

Just knock off the burr, use some decent grease if not aeroshell, wiggle it in carefully instead of hamfisting

2020-01-13 19:34:40 UTC

@5W ok well the parts kits are assembled.

2020-01-13 19:34:45 UTC

trying to assemble an upper without barrel nut grease is like trying to do your brakes without brake fluid on hand

2020-01-13 19:35:12 UTC

you cannot accurately torque your barrel nut without it and there will be nothing preventing the steel from seizing to the aluminum

2020-01-13 19:35:13 UTC

And then skip forward to the part where you fuck up torquing the nut

2020-01-13 19:35:24 UTC

Bro my engine doesn’t need oil yet I just wanna make sure everything runs correctly first before I waste 11 dollars

2020-01-13 19:35:52 UTC

yea im just gonna put the oil filter on to see if it works haha

2020-01-13 19:36:39 UTC

I’m looking forward to the part where he goes to his first range trip and the gun is either horribly inaccurate or unreliable and he tries to blame the parts

2020-01-13 19:36:47 UTC

or the classic castle nut walks off

2020-01-13 19:36:47 UTC

Faxon and aero are meme brands

2020-01-13 19:36:58 UTC

Literally everything I've seen shows them having plenty of wiggle room to do it without grease.

2020-01-13 19:37:19 UTC

you are missing the point

2020-01-13 19:37:32 UTC

You're on the tight side of tolerance, congrats that's a good thing. Lube it up

2020-01-13 19:37:34 UTC

the grease isnt essential for ease of handling, its essential for other reasons, it just happens to help with fitting

2020-01-13 19:37:38 UTC

Damn dude

2020-01-13 19:37:52 UTC

You’ve been watching some dipshit on YouTube filming in his dim house with a mattress on the floor in the background as he mumbles into the camera and fumbles with parts one handed

2020-01-13 19:38:10 UTC

you are torquing a (likely) steel barrel nut onto an aluminum thread
