openRA is way better
(the Tiberian Sun mod for OpenRA is in beta and almost done btw)
i still have a cd with tiberian sun translated to polish by some random russian
the cd has "POLSKA TA ANGIELSKA WERSIJA" written on it
Problem with the official C&C games was that they were utterly imbalanced and horrible for online play. They were made when no one had a broadband internet and a single player campaign was the selling point, with multiplayer being just a feature people rarely used (this changed years later only with Quake III). The distribution (those were CD times) enforced a development cycle with hard deadlines so no one had time to make fine adjustments and balancing, sometimes even skimping on proper testing. Patches were made, but those weren't depended upon before continuous integration times. C&C, RA and other such games just came to early. If they were made when starcraft was, south koreans would fight commies instead of zergs as a national sport.
But the guys at OpenRA took the cnc engine, rewrote it completely from scratch for new hardware and remade the games (original C&C, Red Alert, Dune 2000, Tiberian Sun and there are also other interesting original mods) focusing on online multiplayer.
shills time:
