>I see hunting as morally repulsive as well
i hope you're vegan then

2018-09-22 19:15:30 UTC

i find hunting much less morally repulsive than modern meat production

2018-09-22 19:15:41 UTC

and i've been a veggie for 3 years now

2018-09-22 19:16:18 UTC

yeah and I don't pay people to kill all those animals for fun

2018-09-22 19:16:23 UTC

I need to eat thats why

2018-09-22 19:16:28 UTC

hunting is for fun

2018-09-22 19:17:33 UTC

no, you pay people to kill all those (force fed, held in abhorrent conditions to maximise profit) animals, often inhumanely (again - in order to maximise profit) because _they taste nice_

2018-09-22 19:18:01 UTC

>people dont need to eat <:brainlet:395711607554048000>

2018-09-22 19:18:31 UTC

unless you're one of the _very few_ people for whom it's impossible to live on a balanced meat-free diet for medical reasons, you don't actually need to eat animal flesh in order to live and stay healthy

2018-09-22 19:19:13 UTC

granted, you may need to supplement two or three nutrients, but there's no _need_ to eat animal products at all

2018-09-22 19:19:24 UTC

it's all for your culinary pleasure

2018-09-22 19:19:32 UTC

how's that different from hunting?

2018-09-22 19:20:06 UTC

both essentially amount to killing for pleasure, one directly, the other indirectly

2018-09-22 19:20:59 UTC

>YAAAH collapse half of the agricultural sector right now because I dont like killing animals

2018-09-22 19:21:26 UTC

and you get proteins most effectively from animals

2018-09-22 19:23:03 UTC

none of this counters any of the points I made

2018-09-22 19:25:43 UTC

no it doesn't but its not feasible for all population to switch to vegie diet

2018-09-22 19:26:06 UTC

it'll be only viable with lab grown meat

2018-09-22 19:30:17 UTC

it's only unfeasible due to personal preference (over empathy) and perhaps the perception of eating meat (to be more precise - being able to afford meat) being connected with socioeconomic status in some parts of the world

2018-09-22 19:32:45 UTC

having said that, the feasibility of the world's population switching to a veggie diet has no bearing on whether _your_ personal choice (to eat meat) can in any way be morally justified

2018-09-22 19:32:56 UTC

tbh i can see ghouls point

2018-09-22 19:33:03 UTC

yeah sure animals die

2018-09-22 19:33:08 UTC

but there is something to not doing it yourself

2018-09-22 19:33:30 UTC

is it perhaps _cowardice_?

2018-09-22 19:43:34 UTC

not really

2018-09-22 19:43:40 UTC

its just i dont want to kill something once a week

2018-09-22 19:44:02 UTC

out of sight out of mind

2018-09-22 19:45:08 UTC

yet you do

2018-09-22 19:45:12 UTC

just without the consequences

2018-09-22 19:45:33 UTC

(I'm not a vegan myself though)

2018-09-22 20:02:22 UTC

not liking hunting doesnt imply you're autistic enough not to eat meat, and yes I find that millions of animals are butchered morally repulsive but if I were to do anything about that I think campaigning for lab meat is the best way to go and not some futile, pointless gestures like becoming a vegetarian, meat isn't going to go away

2018-09-22 20:04:25 UTC

what the actual fuck

2018-09-22 20:04:31 UTC

and probably I'd very rarely eat meat if I had access to affordable and fresh fish, but I dont live in fucking Japan

2018-09-22 20:05:13 UTC

wait how did we get from killing people to killing animals?

2018-09-22 20:06:43 UTC

zgadnij implicitly accused me of hypocrism I guess

2018-09-22 20:07:24 UTC

but this gun debate reached an impasse really I don't think anyone is much interested in taking it further

2018-09-22 20:08:00 UTC

I just wanted to know what does he see in guns but still havent gotten any response lol

2018-09-22 20:10:57 UTC

i said yes to all of the things

2018-09-22 20:10:59 UTC

fun

2018-09-22 20:11:26 UTC

but what do you do with guns

2018-09-22 20:11:34 UTC

what is so fun about them
